SCRIPT WRITING COMPETITION

Frapetsus are pleased to announce their inaugural script writing competition Writer's Block proved a huge success! During some fierce competition over the four heats, the sixteen plays chosen for the heats were whittled down to four for the final on Tuesday, 15th November.

"Roses in December" by Rebecca Hill
"A Sunday Roast" by Anna Poole
"Love Potion at Number Nine" by Eifion Jenkins
"Hunkydory" by Othniel Smith

The experienced judging panel in the final had a tough task finding a winner, but the play eventually chosen was "Hunkydory" by Othniel Smith. "Hunkydory" tells the story of 'Idiot Daughters' who were South Wales' most successful band of the punk rock era. After they split, in the early 1980s, singer and bass-player Ludo went on to spectacular solo success, and eventual marriage to super-model Celia. Drummer Dai, in contrast, has been struggling ever since, and is mourning the death of his son – a soldier – in the Middle East. The story takes place after Ludo has invited Dai to visit his plush, London home, after more than thirty years of estrangement (and the obligatory royalties-related court case) in order to ask him a favour.

"Hunkydory" will be produced by Frapetsus Productions in March/April 2012 and after it's professional premiere it will given a publishing and rights-management deal with Stagescripts Ltd.

We are currently accepting submissions for our 2012 Writer's Block script writing competition. If you would like to enter a play please email writersblock@frapetsus.co.uk
